Walter recently concluded a two-week trip to Southern Colorado elk hunting with the Noveske crew. Originally, Walter was going to shoot his Ruger 308 set up to shoot his hotloads at around 2420 FPS, but thanks to the Wizards from Grants Pass, Walter ended up zeroing and testing a Q Fix with a prototype 16-inch Noveske 308 barrel. To Walter's surprise and the detriment of his shoulder, the Noveske Barreled fix printed better groups and only lost 20 FPS all while weighing in at only 66.66, repeating, of course, percent of the Ruger. At 9200 feet above sea level, any wait savings, especially a few pounds, was a welcome addition, especially with a more capable setup.
On paper, Walter's trademarked +P+ 212 ELDX's were supersonic out past 1500 yards and maintained the minimum velocity needed for expansion out to nearly 1000 yards. Well Walter, that sounds purely academic; how did they perform on ungulates? Well, if you haven't guessed, Walter's hot loads transcend the academic into tangible results at 766 yards across a valley on a cow elk, dropping her in her tracks.
Walter’s rifle set up for elk thumping breaks down as follows: Q Fix with a prototype Noveske 16 inch 308 barrel, Q kickstand bipod, Silencer CO scythe TI, Bushnell Match Pro ED 3-18, Weally Wong Stuff Tripod and for rear support, as well as carrying binos, range finder and other knickknacks, the working prototype of the RINGER.
The prototype Noveske Barrel shot lights out.

When comparing Walter's certified warranty voiding, pissing hot, +P+ loads to others Range Cards at camp, Walter was shocked to learn that past 450 yards, The HOTLOADS had more energy 175 Grain 7 PRC out of an 18-inch barrel and stayed supersonic an extra 100 yards. This shocked Walter. The foundation of the empire of the long action hunting cartridge is jeopardy; all hail the high pressure, hybrid brass equipped, short action 308!! If you will it, IT IS NO DREAM! The preorder of the re-release of a crewneck with this very attitude on it ends tonight at midnight. Head over to the webstore to get one for yourself.
Can you share from your load data the COAL and powder type/grains, please? (Obviously I wouldn’t think you had any responsibility if I copied your homework, and I got a different result.) I’m interested in both the hybrid case .308 212 grain ELDX loads mentioned here and any data you have using 210 or 225 grain Barnes TSX in 8.6 necked up and shortened hybrid loads. For the 8.6 I have a 12.5” barrel and an 8” barrel.
anyone trying a 7mm-08×51 hybrid ?
