Ranging cards in Meters, Mil's and Inches
For those bowlers play in US Military leagues and an overview of a redesign of the card system.
Meters, Mils and Inches; the holy trinity of military shooters—are now available as individual cards, calculators, cheatsheets, passive-ranging golf packs, and in the whole enchilada of cards. This card has been requested by bowlers in the DOD and for bowlers that train with the military. Walter took the opportunity to work on this card and built in some functional and aesthetic features that we think make it more useful.
Objects on the front are now broken up in a grid to aid in differentiation between items, and they are now oriented from smallest to largest, with objects with the same dimensions grouped together. In addition, there are now both height and length dimensions, when applicable, to help with getting a more refined distance solution.
On the back of the card, we organized the data from smallest to largest object, allowing ease of navigation when using known dimensions. In addition, we added a column indicating sizes in inches so that a bowler can now use the table as a reference for known dimensions that aren’t on the card.
We selected 34 common objects in North America for the front of the card and laid out the back with dimensions ranging from 6 inches up to 144 inches so that if a bowler has a tape measure or knows the size of an object that’s not on the front of the card, they can use the back of the grid to quickly get a distance estimation. To allow for my data on the back table, we consolidated objects with the same dimensions into the most common. Astute bowlers will still be able to get a range call by using the dimensions on the front and the table in inches in the back. Take, for example, a stop sign, stop light, and IPSC target, all of which have a height of 30 inches. These dimensions are shown on the front of the card, but on the back, we opted to show the thumbnail for just the IPSC target, assuming that bowlers will realize they have the same height.
For those bowlers that like to get an exact estimation of range based on the mil’ing formula, calculators with meters, mil’s and inches equation are now for sale on the site.
Meters, Mil's, and inches cards are available for 16 dollars a piece, and Obviously You’re Not A Golfer Pack (pictured above) is for sale for $55. These changes to the card design will be rolled out across our other cards moving forward. If you will! It is NO DREAM!
